Senior ML Engineer at Meta, passionate about using AI to make meaningful connections and create technology that changes the world. Expert in Large Language Models, Edge AI, and Platform Infrastructure.
We are in the midst of a "compressed 21st century," where AI is no longer a trend but a fundamental shift. My career has been defined by moving AI from theory to impact—from high-stakes ranking algorithms at YouTube to my current work at Meta, where I lead the platformization of Edge AI for millions of users.
I thrive in ML-heavy teams where I can apply state-of-the-art software engineering to fast-moving research environments. Whether it’s optimizing inference on wearable devices, architecting data engines, or automating complex pipelines, I handle the engineering complexity so researchers can stay focused on the science.
I’m a heads-down worker who cares more about the final result than the specific tools used to get there. My goal isn't just to build a "money-making machine," but to create meaningful technology that I can explain to my family with pride.
I drive multiple cross-functional v-teams focused on two critical pillars of modern AI: Edge Inference and Data Infrastructure.
My primary focus is the platformization of Large Language Model (LLM) inference for wearable devices. I oversee the complex engineering challenges involved in transitioning research prototypes into robust, production-grade systems capable of serving millions of users under strict on-device compute and latency constraints.
Simultaneously, I lead the technical strategy for an internal Data Retrieval Engine, a platform designed to solve the data bottleneck for foundation model training. By leveraging agentic workflows and semantic sampling, I developed a pipeline that replaced manual curation with automated sources—reducing data collection costs by an estimated $4M.
My core focus was engineering the ranking and recommendation algorithms that power shopping experiences on YouTube. I led a cross-functional initiative to integrate Large Language Model (LLM) embeddings into the ranking stack, improving video understanding signals across multiple geographies.
Beyond core modeling, I managed the system reliability for massive global scale. I served as the Technical Point of Contact (POC) for critical commercial events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, ensuring zero downtime and system stability during peak traffic periods.
As a Founding Engineer for a proprietary internal ML/LLM platform, I focused on ML infrastructure, tool development, and analytics. I engineered the backend systems that streamline the transition from experimentation to production, including the development of internal tools for prompt engineering and model evaluation.
I spearheaded the integration with high-performance serving infrastructure, enabling seamless one-click deployment of Large Language Models. Additionally, I re-architected the platform's analytical stack backend to handle real-time visualization for large-scale quality experiments. This work directly enabled the automation of key revenue-generating pipelines, driving a $100M revenue uplift.
I operated as a Full Stack Developer and Technical Consultant, delivering end-to-end software solutions for medium-sized enterprises. My work spanned the entire development lifecycle, from architectural design to production deployment.
Technically, I implemented production systems using a diverse stack including TensorFlow and Python for machine learning tasks, alongside React and Node.js for web application development.
I taught web development and AI to high school girls across Italy as part of the Coding Girls initiative. The program aimed to close the gender gap in computer science by empowering young women with hands-on technical experience and mentorship.
Graduated with 110/110 cum laude, maintaining a GPA of 4.0. My research focused on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Natural Language Processing.
Focused on Reinforcement Learning and Deep Learning.
Graduated with 110/110 cum laude, four months ahead of schedule as the first-ever graduate in the "Ingegneria dei Sistemi Informativi" program. Maintained a GPA of 4.0/4.0.

"It's been years since I saw an engineer who, given a problem, proposed interesting/varied solutions. Many stay in their comfort zone or ignore scaling problems."
"Simone's dedication to providing timely, concise, and comprehensive project updates is invaluable. His clear communication keeps everyone informed and ensures efficient use of meeting time for focused discussions on next steps and troubleshooting."
"Huge thanks to Simone for tirelessly and patiently helping me troubleshoot all the issues I faced. Simone went above and beyond to deeply understand the problem space to think of solutions beyond core coding!"
"Thank you Simone for being so giving with your time and for always being willing to share your knowledge. You've given me at least three different knowledge sharing sessions that I've found incredibly helpful."
"Even before coming on the rotation, Simone has taken an incredibly active role in the workflow, quickly understanding the process, identifying the bottlenecks and coming up with solutions to automate the process. Keep up being so proactive."
What drives me is building technology that changes lives—tools that spark connection, empower people, and make the world a little more human. I'm also the type of guy who never turns down an after-work beer. I strongly believe that only people who like each other can build great products.
